Care & storage
Rinse a wetsuit according to its care label
Identify the suit and its care instructions before setting up a rinse routine, especially when different wetsuits share the same household.
Care & storage
Identify the fin system and follow its cleaning instructions, keeping small components organised and checking visible wear before the board is stored.

Fin hardware is easy to overlook because most of it is small or partly hidden. Start with the system fitted to the board and locate its manufacturer's instructions. Different designs use different retention arrangements, and the presence of a screw on one setup does not describe how every fin should be handled.
Follow the stated cleaning procedure after use. Do not remove parts simply because they appear removable, and do not direct a forceful improvised cleaning method into the box. If sand or residue remains where you cannot reach it appropriately, ask the system maker or a shop for advice.
When the instructions call for removal, work over a clear surface with a small container for the components. Record which parts belong to which board. A screw that looks similar in a mixed tin is not necessarily the correct replacement, and a key that almost fits can damage a fitting.
Inspect the visible hardware in good light. Note corrosion, damage to the tool interface, missing parts or a change around the box. Do not keep tightening to compensate for a problem whose cause is unknown. Use the manufacturer's installation guidance when refitting, including any specified tool and setting.
Take a photograph before disassembly if you need a record, but do not treat the photograph as an installation manual. Save the actual system instructions alongside it. For unfamiliar hardware, a shop demonstration or direct manufacturer support may be more useful than trying to interpret an unlabelled video of another board.
Let components dry as directed before putting them into a closed pouch. Keep sharp fin edges protected and away from the board's surface. Label any item awaiting replacement so it is not mistaken for a usable spare during hurried packing.
Before the next session, check the completed arrangement rather than assuming it remains correct because it was cleaned earlier. If the box, fin or retaining hardware is damaged or uncertain, obtain an assessment before use. The care routine should leave you knowing what is fitted and what needs attention, not simply with cleaner-looking parts.
