Choose a bottle you can carry, open and clean easily within your beach routine, then plan where it can be refilled.

A reusable bottle becomes useful when it fits the journey to the beach and the facilities available there. Start with the carrying arrangement: a backpack pocket, a small day bag or a shared container. Check the bottle's diameter and filled weight against that space rather than choosing capacity in isolation.
Find out whether there is an accessible drinking-water refill point near your meeting area. Do not assume that a rinse tap for equipment supplies drinking water. If the source is uncertain, arrange suitable water before leaving the accommodation. The bottle is only one part of that plan.
A wide opening can make filling and cleaning easier, while a smaller drinking spout may be convenient in use. Look at the actual parts: lid, seal, straw or valve. Choose a design you can take apart and clean according to its instructions, and check whether replacement components are available if that matters to you.
Test the closure before putting it beside dry clothing or documents. A lid that appears closed can still be cross-threaded or have a seal out of position. Keep the bottle upright where possible and do not infer complete leak protection from an attractive product description.
Consider where the lid goes while you drink. A loose cap can be dropped in sand; a tethered cap can be easier to retain but may need cleaning around the attachment. Neither design is automatically better, but the details should match how you expect to use it.
Empty and clean it as the manufacturer advises, paying attention to hidden areas in the lid. Leave the parts to dry appropriately rather than returning a damp closed bottle to the cupboard after every trip. Follow any restrictions on dishwashers, hot liquids or freezing for the particular model.
If several people bring similar bottles, identify yours with a durable personal marker that does not interfere with the closure. Pack it where it remains reachable when the bag contains wet equipment on the journey home. A bottle that is awkward to retrieve or maintain is less useful than a simpler one that fits the routine you repeat.
